Alibaba.com selects iAdvantage to provide
network management services

Alibaba.com hosts its core operation systems in One Shanghai Data Centre of CST iAdvantage; iAdvantage dedicates a special zone at its China ISC for Alibaba members

iAdvantage and Alibaba.com announced at a press meeting that Alibaba.com has selected iAdvantage to provide server co-location services at CST iAdvantage Internet Data Centre in Shanghai, with consideration of iAdvantage's reliable Internet connectivity and professional backup support.

Under the agreement, Alibaba.com will rent 30 server-storage racks to host all of its core systems at the 20,000 sq ft One Shanghai Internet Service Centre. Being one of the most popular online B2B marketplace, performance, reliability and security are critical for Alibaba.com to deliver content to its 475,000 registered members from over 200 countries.

"iAdvantage's provision of 24-hour professional technical support has prevented us from being interrupted by the recent breakup of fiber optic cable network between US and the Mainland", said Mr. Jack Ma, CEO of Alibaba.com. "That is the reason why we select iAdvantage to be our service provider."

"We are pleased that Alibaba.com has decided to delegate its core operations to iAdvantage, and we look forward to helping Alibaba.com maintain a high level of performance and reliability for its sites", said Mr. Tung, President & CEO of iAdvantage.

The agreement also extends partnership between the two parties. "To strengthen our ties, we will reserve a special zone at our service centres to accommodate needs from Alibaba.com and its trader members", he added.

As China becoming a WTO member, the opening up of Telecommunications industry will attract more overseas traders to expand their businesses in China. In forecasting the surging demand on data center services, iAdvantage is planning to operate a service center in Guangzhou in the 4th quarter of this year and another service center in Shanghai by 2002.
